Marize Alphonso is in-house counsel for Apple Inc, in the Original Content, Legal and Studio Affairs department. She handles production legal for Apple TV+’s television series and is enjoying being a part of building the processes and policies of the studio. Previously, she worked at the entertainment law firm Reder & Feig, where she mainly served as outside counsel for Amazon Studios’ scripted TV shows. Prior to that, at the boutique entertainment law firm of Cohen and Gardner, she helped represent a wide variety of talent and managed all aspects of production legal work for independent films. Marize graduated from UC Berkeley with a double major in Rhetoric and English, and from UCLA School of Law with a specialization in Entertainment, Media, and Intellectual Property. She was Co-President of the South Asian Bar Association in 2021, and had been on the board for several years as a Community Engagement chair. She sings with the LA Lawyers Philharmonic’s Legal Voices, volunteers with Reading to Kids, and is a member of too many book clubs. She enjoys escape rooms, cake decorating, pub trivia, swing dancing, and fostering kittens.
